Robbers shoot guard

LAHORE, July 14: Robbers shot dead a 30-year-old security guard and plundered cash and valuables worth over Rs1million in three major strikes in the city on Sunday.

Two robbers approached Muhammad Ramzan of Sahiwal near Montgomery Chowk in Civil Lines police limits and tried to loot cash and valuables. As Ramzan offered resistance, the suspects injured him with a gun shot and fled. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Ramzan was leaving a mosque after offering Fajr prayers at the time of the incident.

Two robbers stopped the wife of Motorway DSP Arif Khan in Johar Town in Sattokatla police limits and snatched $700, Rs30,000 and five tolas of gold ornaments. They also thrashed driver Saleem who put up resistance.

Two robbers stopped Kamal Haider in Sattokatla police limits and looted Rs20,000 and a cell phone while as many robbers waylaid Ghulam Fareed in Faisal Town police limits and deprived him of cash and a cell phone.Two robbers stopped Mehr Ishtiaq Ahmad in Gujjarpura police limits and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs1.3m.
