KARACHI: Taking notice of the mass migration of Lyariites, Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered the Interior Secretary and Director General of the Intelligence Bureau to reach Karachi immediately and to submit a report with regards to situation, DawnNews reported.

Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif took notice on Friday of the mass migration of the members of affected communities of the violence-hit Lyari area of Karachi and directed the Federal Interior Secretary and the Director General of the IB to immediately reach Karachi

He further ordered them to submit a report to him based on facts and information collected over the situation after holding meetings with the authorities of the Sindh government, and both communities of Lyari.

The premier ordered for the provision of security to all those people who had migrated from Lyari to Badin and Thatta areas of Sindh and said that all resources be utilised to rehabilitate the displaced Lyariites back to their homes.

Moreover, Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, formed a five-member committee to resolve the Lyari issue.

A delegation led by the provincial law minister departed for Thatta and Badin to hold talks with Katchi community.

In a shocking incident reported two weeks ago, gunmen indiscriminately fired at public near the Machchi Miani Market and killed three people, including a woman.

Violence has persisted in several localities of Lyari for many weeks with the area from the Kamela bus stand to Agra Taj and Bihar colonies gravely affected, forcing residents to migrate in large numbers.

The displaced Lyari residents face tremendous hardship and despite the miserable conditions the migration to Badin and other areas continues in large numbers.
