Abid clinches Subh-e-Nau tennis title

ISLAMABAD, May 5: Davis Cupper Mohammad Abid clinched men’s singles title of Subh-e-Nau Clay Court tennis championship here on Sunday at    Islamabad Club.

Abid defeated Ahmed Chaudhry 6-4, 6-4 in the final.

Federal Minister for Information Technology Dr Sania Nishtar distributed prizes among players.

In line with the International Tennis Federation rules a total of Rs200,000 were distributed among players.

Abid — winner of the men’s singles — pocketed Rs30,000, while runner-up Ahmed received Rs18,000.

Also, Sara Mansoor, who won women’s category final, got Rs20,000, while runner-up Saba Aziz received Rs14,000.

Mohammad Mudassar and Arham Atique, winner and runner-up in the boys’ U-18 received Rs10,000 and Rs6,000 as prize money, respectively.

Abid and Usman Rafique who won men’s doubles pocketed Rs20,000 while runner-up pair of Ahmed Chaudhrary and Faizan Khurram received Rs12,000.—APP
