ISLAMABAD, May 3: A woman and her one-year-old son were found slaughtered in a servant quarter of a house in F-7/1 on Friday evening, police said, adding the husband of the woman was injured with slit throat.
The police suspect that the man has killed his wife and son and later tried to commit suicide in the same manner, as he was mentally disturbed.
The incident came to light when one of the neighbours spotted Mohammad Shabbir sitting on the road near the house while blood was oozing out from his neck and wrist.
The neighbour offered his service to take the injured to hospital, but he failed to reply and signaled towards his house. In the meantime, other neighbours also gathered around Shabbir and later went inside the quarter and found his wife and son lying dead in a pool of blood.
They informed the police who shifted the bodies and injured to hospital where Shabbir was admitted to the hospital as his condition was serious.
The police and doctors said that he was not in his senses and unable to record his statement.
However, police quoting the neighbours said the injured claimed that he had some dispute with his cousin, who along with his friends raided the house and killed his family and injured him. But the police said they did not find any clue or evidence that could substantiate his claim.
The police also collected a blood-stained knife lying near the bodies.
According to information gathered from the neighbouring houses, Shabbir and his family have been living in the servant quarter of the house for the last two years. The owner of the house, a lady doctor, had died and her children were living in the US.
A neighbour, Nadeem, is the caretaker of the house, the police added.
The police said a few days ago Shabbir’s wife approached Nadeem and complained that her husband was mentally disturbed. Nadeem said he tried to take him to hospital, but he refused. Instead, he showed his willingness to go to a Qari for spiritual healing. He was fearing for his life, but from whom he did not mention, the police said, adding on Friday Shabir’s condition deteriorated and he was taken to the Qari at Sadpur village. When his condition got stable he was taken back home. Later his family was found dead and he injured.
The police said they had taken Shabir in their custody in the hospital.
