‘Accomplice’ of Peshawar bomber held

PESHAWAR/PARACHINAR, June 22: Police on Saturday arrested a suspected accomplice of the man, who blew himself up at a Chamkani mosque on the outskirts of Peshawar on Friday.At least 15 people were killed and 27 injured in the bombing.

A police official said the suspect was among the injured shifted to Lady Reading Hospital and that he was shifted from the casualty ward to another after developing suspicion.

He said police suspected the man from Khyber Agency of being a handler of the bomber.

Meanwhile, an official of the investigation team said some other suspects had also been picked up from different parts of the provincial capital.

He said the arrested people were being quizzed at an undisclosed location.

A source in Lady Reading Hospital said of the 27 injured people, nine were under treatment in different wards.

Also in the day, the people removed the rubble from mosque before washing it.

The blast victims were buried at a local graveyard.

Meanwhile, members of Majlas Wahdat Muslimeen, Peshawar on Saturday staged a demonstration outside Peshawar Press Club against the mosque bombing.

In Parachinar, too, a complete shutter down strike was observed against the Peshawar suicide blast.

The local residents will observe three days mourning.

Also in the day, victim of the blast Mehdi Al-Hussaini, grandson of Allama Arif Al-Hussaini, was laid to rest at a local graveyard.
