‘N’ activists rejoice Nawaz’s oath-taking

LAHORE, June 5: PML-N activists in the provincial metropolis and other towns of Punjab celebrated the oath-taking of party president Nawaz Sharif as third-time prime minister on Wednesday.

Immediately after National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced victory of Nawaz Sharif in the polling for the office of prime minister, PML-N activists came out on roads holding small rallies in the downtown.

Some enthusiasts began dancing to the tune of drums while others distributed sweets among passersby, particularly in National Assembly constituency NA-120 where from Mr Sharif returned to the lower house of parliament.

They exchanged greetings by embracing each other as well as texting messages through cell phones. Slogans were raised in favour of the party chief.

They were all praise for the statesmanship their leader showed in his first speech after being declared as next prime minister of the country.

They believed that the determination of the PML-N leadership would ultimately succeed in steering the country out of crises.

A couple of dozens of leaders led by MPA and party’s Lahore chapter secretary-general Khwaja Imran Nazir offered nawafil at Masjid-i-Shuhada, Regal Chowk.

Khwaja Salahuddin, a Hall Road trader, arranged showering of rose petals through an airplane in various neighbourhoods, particularly Model Town. Around 25 maunds of petals were showered.
