‘N’ names Shahbaz for CM slot

LAHORE, June 3: Shahbaz Sharif has pledged to consult the Punjab Assembly members for formation of provincial cabinet as the PML-N parliamentary party unanimously nominated him for Punjab chief minister’s slot at a meeting here on Monday.

Shahbaz told the meeting that only the hardworking members capable of serving the masses round the clock would be included in thecabinet.

Admitting his government could not change the thana (police station) culture in its previous tenure despite posting regional and district police officers of repute, the incoming chief minister pledged to accomplish the task in the new term. To bring peace to the province it was necessary to revolutionise the thana culture, he added.

He also called for elimination of ‘patwari culture’ (revenue officials’ corruption) so that the people could be saved from unnecessary litigation.

The meeting adopted a resolution eulogising the services Shahbaz government had rendered for the province in the previous tenure. It also hailed the ‘political sacrifice’ the PML-N chief gave by accepting chief minister of a minority party in Balochistan and termed the decision prudent.
