PML-N’s parliamentary party nominates Shahbaz for Punjab CM

LAHORE: The parliamentary party of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday formally nominated Shahbaz Sharif for the post of chief minister Punjab, DawnNews reported.

Moreover, Rana Mohammad Iqbal and Sher Ali Gorchani were nominated for the positions of Punjab Assembly’s speaker and deputy speaker respectively.

The nominations were unanimously approved by all members present at the meeting of the parliamentary party held in Lahore’s Alhamra Hall and presided by Nawaz Sharif.

Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif urged the newly-elected members to live up to the expectations of the people who had reposed their faith in them and work for the elimination of ‘patwari’ culture.

Shahbaz said in the past five years his party was accused for playing the role of ‘friendly opposition’ to the then-PPP-led government, adding that the PML-N was also held responsible for the power crisis.

He vowed that his party would end corruption in the country and would work to make Punjab one of the world’s best provinces.
