Pakistan-Sri Lanka warm-up tie abandoned

LONDON: Pakistan's Champions Trophy warm-up against Sri Lanka was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Thursday.

With persistent rain soaking the Birmingham area, the umpires held a series of pitch inspections at Edgbaston to test the conditions, but the day-night fixture was called off at 1500GMT.

Pakistan's last chance to practice before the tournament comes against South Africa at The Oval on Monday.

The next warm-up fixtures for the Champions Trophy are on Saturday, with India versus Sri Lanka at Edgbaston and Australia against the West Indies in Cardiff.

The Champions Trophy runs from June 6 to June 23 and features two groups of four teams, with the top two in each pool progressing to the semi-finals.

Hosts England are in Group A with Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

India, Pakistan, South Africa and the West Indies are in Group B.
