Shahbaz’s austerity advice to MPAs

LAHORE, May 29: Incoming Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has asked newly-elected legislators of the PML-N to lead from the front to wage a war against terrorism and loadshedding.

In a communiqué to the legislators on Wednesday, he asked them to adopt austerity measures and help the PML-N government conserve resources so that sufferings of people due to massive loadshedding could be mitigated and their standard of living could be improved.

“Let’s make a pledge that we will work for the uplift of Pakistan and well-being of our people beyond our personal interests.Pakistan is facing multiple crises, including terrorism and loadshedding. We cannot overcome other menaces such as unemployment, inflation and poverty unless we curb terrorism and power cuts.”

Shahbaz said the PML-N leadership was committed to coping with this situation and providing relief to people on a war footing.

“Being representatives of the public you should lead from the front and wage a war against these crises. The poor and crisis-ridden people of Pakistan are in dire need of your good conduct and I hope that you will work day and night to alleviate their sufferings,” he said.
