ISLAMABAD, May 20: Former daughter-in-law of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Islamabad, was allegedly murdered by her parents in the name of honour, police said on Monday.
The Shalimar police have registered a murder case in this regard.
The woman was found dead in her parents’ house in Peshawar on Sunday.
The Shalimar police kept silent over the details of the case, but said it was registered as murder case on the complaint lodged by the mother of the deceased. She nominated her son and husband as the murderers.
The complainant stated that her husband, son and sister-in law (wife of the younger brother of her husband) were behind the killing as they injected poison in her body, the officer added.
The victim was residing in a flat located in F-10 Markaz after divorce. Two days ago she left to her parents’ house where she was found dead in the morning.
The officer said that besides the Peshawar police, the Shalimar police were also investigating the case.
The officer said that the autopsy report of the victim was still awaited. However, the statements of the deceased family were contradictory.
First they said that she was found dead at her bed. But later they changed their statements and said she died after falling from stairs, the officer said, adding, that however, no mark of injury was found at her body.
A family friend of the victim told Dawn that the body was brought to Islamabad on Sunday night.
Her face was blue and a mark was found on her arm which suggested that something injected in her body, she added.
The mother and younger sister of the victim were in favour of registration of the murder case, the person said adding that they have a view that she was killed in the name of honour by the accused, who were provoked by others.
Despite several attempts the deceased family could not be approached.
Farida Khan, younger sister of the victim told Dawn that her father, brother and his second wife was behind the killing.
They murdered her by injecting poison in her body.
She further said: “Our father told them on Saturday night that they have decided to kill her.”
Last night her brother took the victim to his house and next morning she was found dead.
“After getting the information we reached our brother’s house and found her dead.”
Later her father, his brother’s second wife took away the victim, she said, adding, that later it was informed that she was in hospital.
“After over five hours disappearance her sister’s body was spotted in Tarnol when she was about to be buried, Ms Khan added.
She and her mother demanded that it should be buried in Peshawar, but no one listened to them and later it was buried in Islamabad, she added.
