Policemen among four booked in murder case

SUKKUR, May 14: Two policemen and two cattle traders were booked in a murder case on Tuesday for killing a 20-year-old man in Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district.

Mirpur Mathelo SHO on complaint of the victim’s mother, Piyari, registered an FIR against head constable Ghulam Mustafa Soomro, constable Noor Hassan Mirani, for the murder of 20-year-old Abdul Ghaffar Momdani on Monday.

According to the FIR the victim, who had arrived from Kandhkot for cattle purchasing, had clashed with two other cattle traders, Mandi Sattar Sukio and Sohbat Mahar, over money and had been critically injured in the fight.

It stated that the booked police officials had hit the victim with the butts of their weapons which had killed him. The victim had been left at the Mirpur Mathelo Civil Hospital, where the post mortem was also conducted.

However, the accused cattle traders and policemen said that they had been framed.

An investigation is being carried out by Ghotki DSP Mulazim Hussain Talpur on the orders of Ghotki SSP Abdul Salam Shaikh who took notice of the matter on Monday.

Man killedA labourer was shot dead by armed men in Mirpur Burirro near Thull town of Jacobabad district on Tuesday. According to the area police, the victim, Noor Ahmed aka Pappu Ansari, had some old enmity with the assailants, who committed the crime and fled the scene. They said that the body was shifted to Thull Civil Hospital and handed over to the heir after a post-mortem examination.
