Top four seeds reach Subh-e-Nau Tennis semis

KARACHI All the top four seeds lived up to their credentials when they were through to the last four in the singles event of Subh-e-Nau Ladies National Tennis championship at the Modern Club courts on Thursday.

Top seed Sarah Mahboob was convincing in her 6-1, 6-1 triumph over former national hard court champion, Sehar Khawaja, to make it to the semis.

Earlier, she opened her campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 short work of local player Sana Gul Zaman in the pre quarter-final. She is now drawn to meet fourth seed Mehak Khokhar in the semi-finals as the latter got a walkover against Uzma Ansari.

Second seed Saba Aziz powered to straight 6-0, 6-0 victory over Shahida Farooq and faces third seed and national clay court champion Sara Mansoor who, in the other encounter, accounted for young Maheen Dada 6-0, 6-0.

Both the semi-finals will be played on Friday simultaneously at 10.30am.

The pair of Sarah Mahboob and Sara Mansoor gave a 6-0, 6-1 drubbing to Hina Siddiqui and Saima Batool to qualify for Friday's doubles final where they meets the duo of Saba Aziz and Mehak Khokhar who handed out a 6-0, 6-0 defeat to Sara Ahmed and Shahida Farooq.

Meanwhile, Mehak Khokhar, Aqeela Naz, Madiha Manzoor and Maheen Dada have reached the under-17 singles semi-finals.
