President approves 4 members for GB

LAHORE President Asif Ali Zardari, patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has finally issued the notification for four new elected members of the board's Governing Board, while pending the names of 10 more elected and technocrat members.

“The PCB is pleased to announce that as recommended by the Chairman PCB and in terms of Article 8(1-b) and (2) of the PCB Constitution 2007, the President of Pakistan, in his capacity as patron of the PCB, has approved names of the following persons for their appointment as members of the PCB Governing Board in the category of elected representatives of regional cricket associations for the next two years.

“Maj (r) Naeem Akhtar Gilani, President Rawalpindi Regional Cricket Association, replaces Shakil Sheikh President, Islamabad Regional Cricket Association; Mir Haider Ali Talpur, President Hyderabad Regional Cricket Association, replaces Dr Mohammad Ali Shah, President Karachi Regional Cricket Association; Tariq Baloch, President Quetta Regional Cricket Association, replaces Mian Mohammad Munir, President Multan Regional Cricket Association; Chaudhry Mohammad Anwar, President Faisalabad Regional Cricket Association, replaces Amir Hayat Rokhri, President Lahore Regional Cricket Association (LCCA),” a media release said on Wednesday.

Naeem replaced Shakeel Sheikh of the Islamabad Region, Mir Haider came in place of Dr Mohammad Ali Shah of the Karachi Region.

Similarly, Tariq filled the post vacated by Multan's Mian Munir and Anwar replaced Aamir Hayat Rokhari of the Lahore Region.

Similarly, on the technocrat seats, two members as cricketers are to replace Javed Miandad and Intikhab Alam. Four technocrats will replace Ali Raza, Aslam Sanjarani, Moeen Afzal (all three already quit when Ijaz Butt took charge as chairman PCB), and Wazir Ali Khoja.

A PCB spokesman hoped the names of other members would be announced in the next few days.
