NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 22 Hundreds of flood-affected people living in tents on the Moro-Dadu road, Gachero old, Photo Bilal and Bangel Burdi road are suffering from waterborne diseases, including gastroenteritis.
The people from 250 villages of Ghouspur area are getting daily meals from the administration and philanthropist.
Several women and 12 children suffering from gastroenteritis have been admitted to the Moro taluka hospital.
The women complained that meals prepared in unhygienic conditions were provided to them in relief camps which had no electricity. A seven-day-old child Jansar recently died of gastroenteritis.
Leaders of the Sindh Graduates Association who visited relief camps in Moro said that women complained that they were not getting milk for children or soap for washing clothes.
They said they had informed the Naushahro Feroze DCO about the matter and he replied that the government had not asked him to provide milk for children.
Heads of 25 families from Jacobabad, lodged in Jam Sansar primary school near Moro, said they had not received any food since Friday.
Meanwhile, people of Moro town and the displaced persons held demonstrations against Hesco in protest against loadshedding.
DCO Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said that packets of sugar, teabags and milk were being prepared and would soon be supplied to 70 relief camps.
He said that there were about 22,000 people in the camps and more were pouring in from other districts.
He said the government had ordered transport arrangements for the affected people to be taken to Karachi and the district management was following the directives.
He said that he had received Rs14 million, but he needed Rs100 million.
