PESHAWAR, Jan 9: A former in charge of a police station in Peshawar was arrested in a missing person case on Wednesday after rejection of his pre-arrest bail plea.

Rejecting the plea, additional district and sessions judge Kulsoom Azam observed that in view of the available facts of the case, Abdul Qadir did not deserve to be granted the pre-arrest bail.

The petitioner was allegedly the SHO of Badabher police station when Abdul Wali had gone missing.

The missing person’s brother, Abdul Ghani, had charged the SHO with taking away his brother after a raid on their house in Mathani area over two years ago.

Acting on his petition, the Peshawar High Court ordered on Feb 17, 2011 the registration of the FIR for the disappearance of Abdul Wali.

The FIR was registered at Badabher police station.

However, police didn’t take interest in the missing person’s recovery, prompting the petitioner to again approach the court for relief. — Bureau Report

The concern is that if the government is thinking of cutting costs through the merger, we might even lose the functionality levels we currently have.
