RAWALPINDI, March 17: The police busted a gang involved in kidnapping a local trader, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rawal Town Malik Matloob during a press conference at City police station here on Saturday.

The members of gang identified as Mehnaz Begum, wife of Usman Khan; Sarwar Khan alias Usman, Allah Dad alias Dada and Umar Khan alias Mama all hail from Attock except Umar Daraz who is from Chiniot.

Giving details, the SP said the gang kidnapped Sheikh Zafar, a trader of Moti Bazaar, for ransom on March 7.

City Police Officer (CPO) Azhar Hameed Khokhar, he said, taking action constituted a police party to trace the culprits.

The police party finally nabbed its five members including the gang leader and recovered the detained trader.

He said the ransom money of Rs300,000, the vehicle used in the crime, motorbike of trader and weapons were also seized.

Disclosing the method the gang used to kidnap, he said, Mehnaz Begum developed relations with the traders and later called them for a meeting from where the other members kidnapped them and demanded ransom for their release.
