TAXILA, Sept 28: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Wednesday arrested all the seven accused including former tehsil nazim for their alleged involvement in Rs10million embezzlement in the procurement of land for the construction of cricket stadium in year 2006 in Hassanabdal as their interim bail was cancelled.

Anti-Corruption Special Judge Nazeer Ahmed cancelled the interim bail of former tehsil Nazim Shafqat Khan, former Naib tehsil Nazim, Sadda, Hussain Shah, former Nazim UC 27 Kafiyat Ali Awan, former Naib Nazim UC 27 Malik Mohammad Khursheed, former Nazim UC 27 Zubair Iqbal, the than Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Khalid Khan and Tehsil Officer (Finance) Saleem Akhter. Following the cancellation of their bail, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested them.

All the accused were granted interim bail on August 15. Investigation Officer (IO) Amjad Shahzad told this reporter that the ACE on August 9, 2011 registered an FIR against the members of the purchase committee for misappropriating Rs10 million from the TMA funds. They obtained the amount in violation of rules to construct a cricket stadium on 106 kanals of land. —Correspondent
