RAWALPINDI, Sept 21: First Secretary of Japanese embassy on Wednesday visited Benazir Bhutto International Airport and held meeting with Japanese journalist Tsoneoka Kohsuke who had been under detention of Pakistani intelligence agencies since last Saturday, Dawn has learnt.

Tsoneoka Kohsuke, who had reportedly embraced Islam after meeting Taliban leaders during his recent visit to Afghanistan, was going to Quetta along with his fellow journalist on a PIA flight PK-363 when he was stopped from boarding the plane and detained by Pakistani intelligence agency officials.

His fellow Naka Tako was released after brief interrogation.

However, Kohsuke had still been kept under tight security.

The source said the first secretary, Satosh Izumikawa, was accompanied by security supervisor.

The source said the meeting was held at Rawal Lounge that continued for about half-an-hour.

Later the detained journalist was shifted back to the passenger lounge under tight security and is likely to be deported on Thursday.
