LAHORE, Sept 20: Police on Tuesday arrested 13 more traders dealing in spray machines, spare-parts, anti-mosquito sprays etc for overcharging and locked them up at the Ichhra police station.

The police had also detained around a dozen traders of Brandreth Road for overcharging on Monday but a majority of them were released after they secured post-arrest bails or personal guarantees.

Police sources told Dawn VVIP security SP Waqasul Hasan and his subordinates in plainclothes visited some shops in Ichhra and Bashir Complex and purchased spray machines as ordinary 'customers' on inflated rates.

Later, a police contingent took into custody the owners of the targeted shops for overcharging in the presence of MNA Bilal Yaseen, DIG Operations Ghulam Mehmood Dogar and Punjab Health Director General Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam, they added.

The shops which were raided included Soft Traders, Hygienic Company, 5-Star Insecticides, Rehman Spray Machines and Diesel Pumps, Faisal Traders, Rehmat Machinery and Moon Traders.

Meanwhile, the police sealed two more private laboratories -- Almas Laboratories in Mustafaabad and another on Allama Iqbal Road -- for charging more than the officially fixed fee for CBC tests.

Batapur police raided Mehnaz Public School in Attuky Awan area and arrested its principal for conducting classes in violation of government orders.
