LAHORE, Aug 2: The Ghalib Market police on Tuesday registered a case under fraud and forgery charges against the owner of an auto showroom and his accomplices for looting Rs3 million in the name of booking of vehicles.

Model Town SP Operations Malik Muhammad Awais told Dawn that the police acted on eight complaints that the owner of Al-Haseeb Motors and Consultants situated near Gulberg’s Mini Market had escaped after receiving hundreds of thousands of rupees from them. He said the police found the showroom locked during a raid.

The SP said the applicants had claims ranging from Rs300,000 to Rs400,000. He said raids were being conducted at different places of the city to track down the suspects.

Earlier, the affected people after finding the showroom locked, lodged a protest against its owner and informed the police about the case.
