Nawaz Sharif condoles to the parents of Lieutenant Yasir Abbas who was martyred in PNS Mehran attack in Karachi.—Online

LAHORE: PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif rejected on Wednesday what he termed a ‘unilateral commission’ set up by the government to investigate the Abbottabad operation and said it was tantamount to ‘humiliating’ parliament.

Talking to reporters after offering condolences to ten family of navy officer Yasir Abbas who was killed during the terrorist attack on a base in Karachi, Mr Sharif said the government should have consulted the leader of opposition before setting up the commission.

“According to the resolution unanimously adopted by parliament, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani was required to consult the leader of opposition. It is an insult to parliament and the leader of the opposition who kept waiting for the consultation.”

He said Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had written a letter to the prime minister on the constitution of the commission but he did not receive a reply.
