MANSEHRA, April 1: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Ghulam Dastagir Akhtar has called upon the heads of line departments to get ready for implementation of development plans for the newly-created Torghar district so that people could notice a marked change in their lives.
“The government has changed the tribal status of Torghar as the settled district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and now it is our prime responsibility to address the deprivations of people of the area,” said Mr Akhtar while speaking at the first meeting of the heads of government departments of the new district at Judbah on Friday.
The chief secretary also took aerial view of the Torghar to select an appropriate place for the headquarters of the new district.
Heads of the health, education, police and other departments were present in the meeting, which was the first held by a high-ranking official following the change of the tribal status of Torghar by President Asif Ali Zardari early this year.
District coordination officer Fareed Khan and district police officer Naqeebullah Khan gave a briefing to the secretary about the overall law and order situation in the district.
Mr Akhtar asked the heads of line departments to finalise complete reports about building offices and induction of human resource to run the district.
He said that appointment of staff would be initiated as soon as soon the provincial government got the demands from different departments.
The elders of Bassikhel tribe also met with the chief secretary and assured him of their support.
