LAHORE, March 31: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sana Khan Attique on Thursday awarded 10-year imprisonment to accused Safdar Masih and acquitted four others in a murder case.

The court also ordered the accused to pay a fine of Rs50,000 to the victim family. In case of non-payment, he will have to undergo three-month additional imprisonment.

The court, however, acquitted Imran, Mubarik, Shahzad and Asgher by giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Safdar Masih along with his accomplices had murdered Imran in 2006 in Manga Mandi police precincts.

DRUG PUSHERS: Various city courts on Thursday convicted four drug pushers in different cases.

An anti-narcotics court awarded life imprisonment along with Rs200,000 fine to Inamuddin for possessing a large quantity of hashish. A court also awarded 13-month jail term to Habibullah along with a fine of Rs20,000 for possessing two-kg hashish.

Another court awarded 10-month imprisonment along with Rs10,000 fine for carrying 440 grams of heroin.

Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Ali Raza Awan awarded six-month jail term along with Rs5,000 penalty to drug peddler Muhammad Shahbaz.
