LAHORE: Wapda continued to assert their dominance as three of their players advanced to the men’s singles semi-finals of the SNGPL All Pakistan Ranking Badminton Tournament, being held at the POF Complex in Wah Cantt on Saturday. One player from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also secured a berth in the last four.

In the women’s singles category, two players each from Wapda and Pakistan Army booked their spots in the semi-finals.

In the men’s singles quarter-finals, Wapda’s Irfan Saeed, Azeem Sarwar and Mohammad Ali Larosh recorded straight-set victories to reach the semis, while Murad Ali of KP overcame Army’s Anjum Bashir 21-11, 21-16 to complete the final four line-up.

On the women’s side, Ghazala Siddique and Mahoor Shahzad (both Wapda), along with Alja Tariq and Ammarah Ishtiaq (both Army), advanced after commanding performances in their respective quarter-final ties.

The men’s doubles event also saw four pairs progressing to the semi-finals. These included the pairings of Ali Larosh and Raja Zulqarnain (Army); Azeem and Murad; Abdullah Latif (Army) and Hamza Khan (KP); and Wapda’s Mohammad Adnan and Amir Saeed.

In the women’s doubles, Ghazala teamed up with Ammarah to reach the semi-finals. Other duos making the last four included Bushra Qayum and Huma Javed (Wapda), Zubaira Islam and Umama Usman (SNGPL), and Farzana Ali and Khizra Rasheed (Wapda).

The semi-finals of all categories will be held on Sunday.
