KARACHI: An enthusiastic concourse of about 100,000 people, filling the Polo Grou­­nd, Karachi, greeted his Imperial Majesty the Shahinshah of Iran with a deafening ovation on his arrival in a state-coach-and-six, to review the Ceremonial Parade of the Armed Forces on Friday morning [March 2]. Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan and the three Services Chiefs received the Shahinshah… . A Royal Salute by the Sovereign’s Guard of Honour drawn from the 14th Punjab Regiment, a march past by a mile long parade and a remarkable performance by massed bands highlighted the ceremony.

Earlier the Shahinshah visited the Quaid-i-Azam’s Mazar … and offered Fateha. The ceremony was brief, solemn and impressive. The route from the Governor-General’s House to the Quaid-i-Azam’s grave was lined with a dense mass of humanity. … The crowds … craned forward to have a good look at the Royal guest.

At 5 p.m. the Shahinshah called on Miss Fatima Jinnah. The President of the Pakis­tan Constituent Assembly, Mr Tamizuddin Khan, and Deputy Foreign Minister, Dr Mahmud Hussain called on [him] at 6 and 6-30 p.m. respectively.
