CREDIBILITY FACTOR: I recently went to the council office located in my neighbourhood in connection with the birth certificates of my two daughters. The official handed me a form that I was supposed to fill and get attested from the local councillor. I went to the councillor’s house, waited for a good 30 minutes, but he did not even come out to have a word with me. I am a government employee working in BPS-16, having a valid CNIC. My daughters have birth certificates issued by reputed healthcare institutions. Why do I need a verification from someone who managed to get a few hundred votes to become a councillor? Why does my own credibility hold no value in this country? Period.

ONLINE COMPLAINT CELL: There is no online complaint cell established by the government of Sindh. I have witnessed numerous instances where individuals face difficulties in addressing issues, such as corruption, inefficiency and lack of accountability within government departments. While traditional complaint mechanisms exist, they often involve lengthy procedures and bureaucratic hurdles. Had there been an online mechanism available, people would have filed their complaints, knowing that they will not be victimised merely for being a complainant, which happens often during the conventional process. By embracing technology, the provincial government can significantly improve service delivery.

EXPLOITATION OF MARKET: As Ramazan moved towards its end recently, Turbat found itself in the grip of soaring prices, with shopkeepers converting Eidul Fitr as an opportunity to mint money right, left and centre. It was market exploitation at its worst. This continues and it happens every year, but this year was on an altogether different scale. The lack of organised community-based effort to address the issue leaves consumers vulnerable. The local consumers should better organise themselves.
