Nation united against terrorism, extremism, says minister

ISLAMABAD: Careta­ker Interior Minister Sar­faraz Bugti on Wednesday emphasised the nation’s collective resolve against terrorism and extremism, saying that Pakistan is dedicated to eradicating these threats and creating a peaceful environment for all citizens.

He was speaking during his visit to National Cou­nter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) headquarters, where Inspector General Tahir Ray briefed the minister.

The minister reviewed the National Action Plan and reiterated the nation’s commitment to eliminating terrorism, transforming Pakistan into a harmonious nation.

Mr Bugti highlighted Pakistan’s narrative agai­nst terrorism as a guiding principle that needs further promotion.

He said Nacta would make effective and workable policy to counter terrorism and the policy would be shared with all other departments for effective coordination.

The minister underscored a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism and extremism, praising law enforcement agencies for their proactive measures against these challenges. He condemned rec­ent terrorist activities in the country and said that the state would ensure a pe­aceful environment for the people by uprooting ter­rorism from the country.

Addressing security con­cerns, the minister com­mitted to assisting police in eliminating hideouts of dacoits in the Kacha area of Sindh. He pledged to enhan­­ce security along river belts, ensuring safety and tranquility.
