LAHORE: A competitive six-event card featuring a cup race awaits racegoers when the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting is held here at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The main event, the June Cup, a Class VII Division I and II (Class VI included) race, to be contested over 1,000 metres, has only seven runners. In-form bay colt Summer Beauty which has won four races so far and placed seven times in a dozen outings while carrying a heavy impost of nine stones twelve pounds on his back, still holds a fairly good chance to win on classification.

Running in the colours of a turf accountant, the colt will be on the course to fulfill owner’s appetite for cup glory.

Bay filly, Galactica and bay Guns Of Navarone could be Summer Beauty’s close rivals in this fourth race of the order.

In the supporting event, the Chan Plate Class VII Division II and III, to be run over 1,000 metres has eleven runners. On current form, red-roan colt Hizar, beaten on his last outing in a photo-finish, should avenge his defeat with speed merchant Gondal Gift and Casper expected to fight it out for top honours.

In the sixth and last race, the Chan Plate Class VII Division III and IV over 1,000 metres bay horse Al Jamali seems to have an edge over the seven runners.

The opener has the largest field of fourteen runners, of whom Jalthal, Khaqan King, Kuwait Currency and Al Saqab are prominent contenders.

Fazeel Prince, Five Star and Chhota Pathan look good among the nine runners in the second race for earning top slot while the third race containing nine starters looks an open affair.
