LAKKI MARWAT: A jirga has asked the Peshawar Electric Supply Company to stop unscheduled electricity loadshedding in Hinjal area of Bannu.

The jirga comprising elders and newly-elected local government representatives met on Sunday to discuss the issue.

Haji Yaseen Khan, Mohammad Zubair Khan, councillor-elect-Imran Ali Shah, Balqiaz Khan, Sifatullah Khan Advocate and others spoke on the occasion, blasting the Pesco for carrying out excessive electricity outage in the locality.

They said the prolonged power loadshedding had caused acute water shortage in the locality as tubewells could not run. They said under an agreement, the people had extended help to Pesco authorities to curb electricity theft in return for ensuring smooth power supply, and asked the power company to implement the agreement in letter and spirit.

THREE KILLED: Three people, including a woman, were killed in separate firing incidents in Lakki Marwat and Bannu on Sunday.

Police said Ali Rehman killed a woman in Quraishian locality of Tajori town.

Police said the body was shifted to Government City Hospital, Lakki, for postmortem. They said the motive behind the killing was a dispute over cutting of trees. They registered a case against the alleged killer on the complaint of the deceased woman’s husband.

Separately, unknown assailants shot dead Imran Khan near a fruit market in Bannu. The Saddar police registered a case.

In another firing incident, Hamidullah was shot dead in Kotka Adil Shah Berikhel locality of Bannu.

The Mandan police registered a case.

Meanwhile, a woman died and her daughter sustained injuries when a rickshaw fell into a canal in Takhti Bakkakhel area of Bannu on Sunday. Police and witnesses said the accident occurred on Bannu-Miramshah Road in the limits of Bakkakhel police station.

The deceased woman was identified as Sharifa Bibi, 44, and her one-year-old daughter Saira Bibi. The body and the injured girl were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu.
