MANSEHRA: The King Abdullah Teaching Hospital would shortly get high-tech surgical and other equipment worth over Rs720 million pledged by Saudi Arabia.

“We have finalised the arrangements with the Kingdom through the federal government to provide this lone tertiary healthcare facility in upper Hazara division with modern equipment,” Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MPA Babar Saleem Swati told a function held in connection with the launch of Islamabad Diagnostic Centre’s services here on Saturday.

Doctors and other people from the health fraternity attended the ceremony.

The MPA said the hospital was being equipped with modern facilities under the PTI government’s vision of ensuring quality healthcare to patients.

“We thank the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister for not only enhancing the hospital’s bedding capacity from the existing 200 to 350, but also upgrading other facilities for better patient care,” said Mr Swati.

“I expect that the around 126 doctors, who have been posted to this health facility, will perform their duties with honesty and dedication for better care of patients,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, the hospital’s head of Sehat Sahulat Card programme Dr Umair and its management board’s member Taimur Khan Swati said that patients coming to the public sector health facility would now be provided with diagnostic services offered by Islamabad Diagnostic Centre.
