QUETTA: Head of the Balochistan Peace Forum Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani has urged the youth to pay attention and accord priority to their education to be able to bring the people of Balochistan out of crises.

Speaking at a function at the Government Degree College here on Monday, he announced a donation of books to the college library.

Mr Raisani, who is a central leader of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), said education should not be obtained just for the sake of jobs but for serving the people.

“The people belonging to all schools of thought, including civil society, should play their role for the promotion of education by linking themselves with books and libraries to bring the people of Balochistan out of subjugation,” he said.

He assured the college administration that he would become their ambassador and play every possible role for the solution of problems.

Mr Raisani said he had studied in this college in 1978 and was now encouraged to see discipline and quality of education here.

He said that a backward area like Sariab was in dire need of talented officials, educated people and teachers. He asked the youth to contribute to the formation of a civilised society.

The BNP-M leader said: “In order to take society out of the crisis, we should realise our responsibilities. Parents should provide education to their children and train them to respect the sanctity of the institution in which they are going to study.”

He said the nations of the world that had focused on education were thriving, but “we are still longing for a drop of water here”.

Mr Raisani said: “Our society is currently facing serious problems like security, lack of basic facilities like water, health, education, etc. In such a situation, self-accountability is needed to take society out of these crises.”

Unemployment was at its peak in the country, seven million people were addicted to drugs, people were suffering from the worst wave of terrorism, resources were being plundered, people were being affected by epidemics like TB and polio, the chief minister observed.
