GUJRANWALA: Six policemen were arrested on Sunday after a cheque bouncing accused died allegedly in their custody in Whando police station jurisdiction.

City Police Officer (CPO) Sarfraz Ahmad Falki suspended the Whando station house officer for negligence.

According to police, Kali Suba check-post (falling in Whando) in charge Jaan Muhammad along with his team arrested Ejaz , 50, from Lahore in a cheque dishonour case and allegedly subjected him to severe physical torture which took his life.

When heirs of Ejaz reached the check-post to lodge protest, a heavy contingent of police reached the scene to control the situation.

The CPO took notice of the happening and suspended SHO Shabbir Gill and got a murder case registered against check-post head Jaan Muhammad and five of his colleagues.
