LAKKI MARWAT: The police claimed on Sunday to have killed a wanted outlaw in an encounter and arrested his brother in Behramkhel locality of Tajori town.

The police recovered weapons and ammunition. The officials said the outlaws were affiliated with Makhi gang.

They said as soon as the cops started laying siege around the hideout of criminals they opened fire, adding the police returned the fire and a gun battle followed.

They said police found the body of a proclaimed offender, Mohammad Zaman, the ringleader of the gang, and also arrested his brother, Sifatullah when the firing stopped.

The police also seized two rifles, a hand grenade and ammunition from the hideout. The body was shifted to the district headquarters hospital, Tajazai.

Meanwhile, two bike thieves were arrested in injured condition while their third accomplice escaped after an encounter with police near Malakabad area on the Lakki-Mianwali Road on Saturday night.

An official said policemen signaled three suspects riding two motorcycles to stop, but they opened fire, adding the cops returned the fire, in which Sohail Khan and Rehmanullah were injured.

He said a pistol, a repeater gun, bullets, two kilogrammes hashish, 450 gram ice drug and a stolen motorcycle were recovered from the arrested men.

PETROL PUMP OWNERS FINED: Assistant commissioner, Lakki Marwat, Nadir Shahzad Khan fined owners of several filling stations for selling petrol and diesel at exorbitant rates.

DC Abdul Haseeb had ordered the action after receiving public complaints about sale of oil products on rates other than fixed by the government.

Mr Shahzad paid surprise visits to the filling stations late on Saturday night and checked the metres and per litre price of diesel and petrol. He imposed heavy fines on owners of five petrol pumps and also sent two operators to jail for profiteering.
