TAXILA: The bodies of two kidnapped doctors were recovered by Taxila police on Monday.

Three suspects have been taken into custody. The victims were abducted and later killed by the suspects.

District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari told the media that Dr Iftikhar Ahmed, an American national, and Dr Aziz Ahmed went missing from Dr Iftikhar Ahmed’s farmhouse in Galli Jagir, Fatehjang, on March 14.

Their car was found on Kohat Road.

Mr Bukhari said the police took a man, identified as Fazal Haq, into custody who confessed during interrogation that he and two accomplices - Gul Mohammad and Ziabat Khan - had killed the doctors and buried the bodies in a nearby field.

He said all three suspects claimed in the interrogation that they wanted to take over Dr Iftikhar Ahmed’s land, which was why they killed both victims.

The DPO said the suspects were remanded into police custody by a local court, and that the bodies of the victims were handed over to the families following autopsies at a local hospital.
