SWABI: Unidentified assailants killed a woman and her son in Shagai village here on Saturday.

Giving details, city police station SHO Munsif Khan said that the woman and her son were killed before dawn, while the people came to know about the incident in the morning and informed the police.

The people placed the bodies on the Swabi-Mardan Road at Shagai bus stop and blocked it to traffic for about an hour, demanding arrest of the killers. The victims were identified as Zeeshan Khan and his mother Saleema Begum.

The police officials assured the protesters that the culprits would be traced and arrested soon after which they dispersed. The police have registered an FIR on the complaint of Zeeshan’s uncle, Munsif Ali.

Meanwhile, a shopkeeper identified as Fazal Rab was killed when unknown attackers opened fire on him inside his shop in Kadi village.

Registering an FIR with the city police station, Nasar Ali, brother of the deceased, said that they had no enmity with anyone.

DENGUE FEVER: Two cases of dengue fever have been detected in the Gandaf Afghan refugees camp in Topi tehsil.

Refugees said that it was the first dengue cases since establishment of the camp in 1980. They identified the two patients as Shah Mohammad, 28, and wife of one Fareed Khan.

Mr Shah was admitted to the isolation ward of Bacha Khan Hospital Complex, Shahmansoor, while the woman had been taken to the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. The Afghan refugees have demanded of the health authorities to arrange for fumigation in the camp area.
