QUETTA: Two people were killed and as many others injured in a bomb blast in a bazaar of Awaran town on Tuesday.

Security officials said that an improvised explosive device was planted close to a shop in the bazaar and detonated by remote control.

The deceased were sitting inside the shop at the time of the blast. The two men received multiple wounds and died on the spot. They were identified as Inyatullah and Balaach, both residents of Awaran town.

The two injured were passers-by. They were taken to the district hospital.

Some nearby shops and building were damaged by the impact of the blast which caused panic among people of the area.

Police have registered a case against unidentified people and begun the investigation.

Security forces launched a search operation in the area after the blast and took some suspects into custody for interrogation.

Security has been tightened in Awaran town and Mashkay tehsil of Awaran district.
