LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami acting Emir Liaquat Baloch says the split in the Eid celebrations on sectarian grounds in this age of advance science has made the nation a laughing stock.

Speaking at an Iftar dinner in the city on Sunday, he stressed that the federal and provincial governments should resolve the issue of moon-sighting on a permanent basis with the consultation of religious scholars.

Mr Baloch said the government had made the month of Ramazan and its different forms of worship a joke and its attitude was almost criminal.

However, he said, the poor and sincere people would be duly rewarded by Allah for their noble deeds during the sacred month.

He said the JIT inquiry into the Panamaleaks case was a historic event and added that the corruption mafia had looted the wealth of this rich country.

Now, he said, the time of accountability had come. He said avenues for wiping out ideological and electoral corruption would also be opened in the future.
