RAWALPINDI: Punjab Governor Malik Mohammad Rafique Rajwana on Saturday said elements who wanted to disrupt the pace of development in the country by creating political instability would not succeed in achieving their political motives by exploiting the Panama case issue.

He was talking to a delegation from the Islamabad High Court Bar Association who called on him at the Punjab House here. The delegation was led by Islamabad High Court Bar Association President Arif Chaudhry and included Vice President Chaudhry Riaz Ahmed, General Secretary Mohammad Arbab Abbasi and Joint Secretary Asif Alvi.

The governor said the government had placed the country on the path of progress and prosperity and completed a record number of development projects. But the elements who have been indulged in negative politics are trying to disrupt the pace of economic prosperity.

He said the government would complete its tenure and no one can mislead the citizens. The governor said it was time to unite the nation and supplement the efforts of the government for strengthening political system besides improving socioeconomic conditions of the citizens who had been confronted various difficulties.

He said the government had achieved the milestones of making Pakistan an investment friendly country. It was also encouraging that the government had attracted foreign investment which would open new opportunities of business and employment.

He criticised negative politics by elements trying to create hurdles in the peaceful process of democracy.

The governor appreciated the valuable contributions of lawyers for the restoration of democracy, human rights and provision of speedy justice to the citizens.

Arif Chaudhry said it was the obligation of everyone to accept the decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on the Panama case.
