KARACHI: Giving spectacular performance, prolific Zohaib Asif retained the Sindh Golf Association (SGA) Cup defeating challenger and the club-mate Waseem Rana by 11 shots at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club (DACGC) on Sunday.

Overnight leader Asif shot a bogey free round of four under 68 to return with two-day aggregate of seven under 137 for a repeat finish.

His second day’s scores revolve around an eagle at hole 15 on back nine besides five birdies including four consecutive at 2, 3, 4 and 5 besides 9.

He carded three under 69 in the first round on Saturday.

Rana earned consolation by retaining his runner-up slot at four over 148 the two rounds scores being 73 and 75.

Sohail K Rana, a former captain of the Karachi Golf Club (KGC), annexed the seniors gross title while Asad I A Khan finished runner-up.

Mr. Abdullah Hussain Haroon, Pakistan’s former ambassador to the United Nations and a former speaker of the Sindh assembly, who graced the occasion, gave away the prizes.

Being an avid golfer, he shed light on his long association with the sport.

Also present on the occasion were SGA secretary Ashraf Khan Ghori, retired Brig Tariq Rafiq and retired Col Zahid Iqbal.
