GUJRAT: Jhelum police on Friday submitted an investigation report to a local court in the case of British-Pakistani Samia Shahid, who was allegedly murdered for honour by her family.

The prosecution submitted the report to the court of area magistrate Ali Arsalan Shah where both prime suspects Chaudhry Shakil, the former husband of Samia, and Chaudhry Shahid, her father, were also present.

According to the report, police recovered the instrument of murder, which was Samia’s shawl, and her mobile phone from suspect Shakil. Her bag and passport were recovered from her father.

Following submission of the report, the case will now be shifted to trial court of the Jhelum additional sessions judge on Sept 27.

Police are yet to arrest the remaining two suspects – Samia’s mother Imtiaz Bibi and sister Madiha Shah, as they both are in the UK and police had sought their extradition through the Interior Ministry.
