LAKKI MARWAT: On the directives of deputy commissioner Mohammad Bakhtiar Khan, the Independent Monitoring Unit’s (IMU) district monitoring officer Amjad Meraj inaugurated enrolment drive by filling admission forms of several out of school children at a function here on Monday.

The function held at Government Shaheed Mohammad Ghassan Khan Centennial Model High School in Lakki city was attended among others by DEO Haziqur Rehman, ADEOs Nisar Mohammad and Hashim Khan, ASDEO Abdul Rehman Rashid and school principal Muzamil Khan.

Later, the IMU official led a walk from the school which culminated at Qazi Ishfaq Chowk. Boy scouts, teachers, students, civil society representatives and people from different walks of life participated in the walk.

The participants carried banners and placards highlighting messages regarding importance of education and children’s enrolment in schools. On the occasion, the IMU’S district monitoring officer termed education inevitable for development and called upon parents to equip their children with quality education.

“Education is the only tool that can place the country in high esteem among the world nations besides achieving prosperity for Pakistan,” said Amjad Meraj. He asked the parents to get their out of school children admitted to schools for better education and bright future.

DEO Haziqur Rehman reiterated that the education department would make all out efforts to ensure enrolment of all out of school children.

CONDOLENCE REFERENCE: Shaikh Badin Adabi Tolana, a literary organisation, held a condolence reference in Darra Pezu on Monday to remember prominent Pashto poet late Rehmatullah Dard.

A local literary figure, Syed Shabeer Hussain Shah, presided over the event while poets and members of literary organisations from Lakki, Bannu, Tank and DI Khan districts were in attendance.

Highlighting the life, poetry and literary services of late Rehmatullah Dard, speakers said he was a famous poet who promoted peace through his poetry.

They said the poetic work of Dard carried the message of patriotism besides his contribution to Pashto poetry would be remembered for a long time to come.

He was the poet of Ghazal which made him famous and popular in the entire province,” they maintained.

The speakers included Aslam Khan Tasneem, Nader Khan Aleel, Shahabuddin Tofan, Kalimul Haq Kalim, Qayyum Mastana, Fazalur Rehman Fazal, Saeed Darvesh and Tahir Javed.
