ISLAMABAD: Main accused in Barrister Fahad Malik murder case was arrested from the district courts on Saturday after additional district and session’s judge ADSJPervaizul Qadir Memon dismissed his bail application.

Earlier, on Aug 17 the accused was granted interim bail until Aug 27 against surety bonds of Rs200,000. The judge also directed the police to submit a report on the case on Aug 27.

The accused was nominated in the FIR on a complaint lodged by Tariq Malik, the uncle of Fahad Malik, with Shalimar police station.

Fahad Malik, the nephew of Mohammedmian Soomro, former chairman senate, was gunned down on service road of F-10/3. Malik Tariq was also injured during the incident.

During Saturday’s hearing, complainant’s counsel told the court that the accused had been booked under Anti Terrorism Act 1997, hence he is not entitled to bail.

The counsel for the accused on the other hand insisted that his client was innocent. He also expressed doubt over the investigation saying that the police were giving extraordinary importance to this routine murder case.

ADSJ Memon when dismissed the bail plea, the counsel for the accused said his client had the right of getting justice and fair trial which had been infringed.

The judge however remarked that the accused may file an appeal at the appropriate forum.
