TAXILA: Six were killed and many injured in three separate road accidents in various areas of Taxila and Hassanabdal on Sunday.

In the first incident, a Rawalpindi-bound passenger van coming from Peshawar rammed into a trailer on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1) near the Bhattar interchange in the early hours of Sunday. Four passengers were killed and seven injured. Among the dead were two brothers. Those who died have been identified as Aamir Shahzad, Asim Shahzad, Sartaj Jan and his wife Shahnaz Begum. Seven passengers were injured in the accident, four of whom were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Rawalpindi. Those who were taken to the hospital were identified as Sher Mohammad, Qamar Abbas, Muneer Ahmed and Tanveer Ahmed.

In a separate incident, a car in which a group of friends were travelling from Lahore to Kaghan collided with a speeding dumper on Hazara Road. According to the police, Saddam Hussein died on the spot while his friends Kashif Toufail, Imran Hassan, Ghumal Mustafa and Ali Hassan sustained injuries.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist identified as Ghulam Jilani was killed in an accident with another speeding dumper on G.T. Road near Jameelabad. The police have registered a case and have started investigations.
