PESHAWAR: Three personnel of Khasadar Force were arrested here on Thursday for attempted murder after they allegedly shot injured two shopkeepers in Karkhano Market in the limits of Hayatabad police station.

The area where the incident took place is adjacent to Khyber Agency and police said that the khasadars were deputed in Jamrud tehsil of the tribal region.

An official of Hayatabad police station told Dawn that the incident took place in the morning when three khasadars identified as Abdul Qadeer, Abdul Ghani and Nasir opened firing on traders in Karkhano Market. The traders identified as Ismail and Matih sustained injuries, he added.

SP Kashif Zulfiqar said that the traders, hailing from Afghanistan, were currently living in Shakas area of Jamrud tehsil. They were dealing in electronics business at Karkhano Market, he added.

Mr Zulfiqar said that the khasadars were wearing official uniforms when they opened firing on the traders. He said that they were arrested along with their weapons while the injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex for treatment.

The SP said that the incident was result of exchange of harsh words between the khasadars and traders some time back when the former were shopping there.

Police registered FIR under Section 324 of PPC and 15 Arms Act against the khasadars and started investigations.
