FAISALABAD: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) was arrested on Tuesday while four others were booked on charges of torturing a man and extortion.

The arrested ASI is identified as Abbas while those booked are constables Mustafa Dogar, Shahbaz, Tariq and Rana Imran.

They raided the house of the complainant Muhammad Tariq, a resident of Kokianwala and driver by profession in Dubai who had returned to Faisalabad on Aug 20.

In his application to the Factory Area police, Tariq said the abovementioned employees of the CIA entered his house on Aug 24 and took him to CIA Lyallpur Town office.

The CIA employees allegedly subjected him to severe torture the whole night, accusing him of smuggling heroin to Dubai.

Tariq further alleged in his application that he had paid the suspects Rs125,000 to get his release.

The CCTV of the automated teller machine (ATM) from where he drew the amount also captured a CIA policeman receiving money from him. Besides, he said, the suspects also extorted 285 Dirham and Rs8,000 from him.
