Army vows to purge Malakand of militants

BATKHELA: Pakistan Army with the support of political leadership and civil society will continue action till last militant is eliminated from the Malakand division.

This was stated by Maj-Gen Javed Bukhari while addressing a public meeting after laying floral wreath on the grave of student, Adil Shehzad, who was killed in APS attack.

Adil Shehzad’s family members and relatives were also present on the occasion.

Mr Bukhari said Pak Army was determined to root out militancy from the motherland.

He said that not only militants but their facilitators would face the music for their excesses to people.

However, he made clear that those militants who laid down arms and surrendered voluntarily would be facilitated to retransform.

The army officer claimed that non-Muslim forces were financing the militant groups with logistic and manpower to destabilise Pakistan and the religion as a whole in the garb of jihad and religion.

He said that these elements would never succeed in their nefarious designs.

FACILITIES FOR WOMEN: The newly-elected PTI Senator Samina Abid has said that quality education and proper health facilities for women and legislation against child labour topped her priority list as member of the Upper House of parliament.

Talking to media persons at her residence at Dheri Golagra in Malakand protected area after her election as senator on PTI ticket, she said apart from working for rights of women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, she would also raise voice for Fata women.

Ms Abid claimed that the Senate elections were held in free and impartial atmosphere, saying that the way of horse-trading was blocked for the first time due to the efforts of PTI.

She noted that entry into political sphere of women from educated and respectable families would help in solution to the miseries being faced by their gender.

She thanked the party leadership for allotting her Senate ticket and also the MPAs for electing her as senator.
