LAHORE: Lahore and Faisalabad reached the preliminary round final of the of the NBP U-25 Inter-Region National Hockey Championships here on Monday.

Awais-ur-Rehman and Azfar Yaqoob scored twice each as Lahore overcame Gujranwala 4-3 in the first semi-final after they were locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

Awais scored his first through a field attempt before converting a penalty-stroke while Azfar scored his brace via penalty strokes. M Suleman converted two penalty strokes with Ammad Shakeel scoring the other for Gujranwala.

Meanwhile, Ejaz Ahmed scored twice in Faisalabad’s 4-1 win over Multan in the other last-four clash.

Ejaz scored in the 15th and 49th minutes with Asad (45th) and Adnan Anwar (52nd) scoring the other two goals for the winners. Safeer Hussain bagged Multan’s lone goal.
