LAHORE: Shopkeepers and traders of Model Town on Thursday expressed concern over continuous inspection of their shops, arrest of vendors and imposition of heavy fines on them by price control magistrates.

In a meeting held with District Coordination Officer retired Capt Muhammad Usman, office bearers of the Model Town’s departmental stores association said the action of officials was not only affecting their business but also becoming a disgrace for them.

The DCO showed some standardized samples of different pulses and asked owners to sale such stuff as per the official price list.

He said strict action would be taken against all those shopkeepers who would be found involved in overcharging.

“We will not tolerate overcharging by vendors and selling of commodities would be ensured at official price lists at all costs,” he said, requesting the association to cooperate with the CDGL in this regard.

The DCO assured the association of taking action against those officials for raiding stores unnecessarily.

Meanwhile, various price control magistrates on Thursday got arrested 19 vendors for overcharging and hoarding in the open market of the city.

They also imposed a fine of over Rs121,000 on several others in this regard.

AUCTION: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) auctioned 10 residential and commercial plots for Rs53.9 million at the LDA Community Centre, 239-A, New Muslim Town, here on Thursday.
