KARACHI: Second favourite four-year-old chestnut filly Loyal Lady lowered the colours of favourite five-year-old chestnut horse Gold City galloping to a facile four lengths victory to land the day’s feature event in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

Rider Zubair Ahmed, who piloted home the winner in a start-to-finish bid, waved his hand before crossing the winning post ahead of the public fancy and denied him to make it two on trot.

Five-year-old dark bay mare Snow Fairy had to be content with third place another four lengths behind while five-year-old bay mare Happy Lady completed the board further beaten by a length-and-a-half among four starters.

Loyal Lady was owned by Syed Sibghatullah Shah Pir Pagara and trained by Champion Trainer of the Year Mohyuddin and the triumph helped the duo to complete a double. Earlier, they had the taste of a winner in the opener when half-money favourite filly Nany obliged all and sundry imposing to three-and-a-half lengths victory over mare Pampas Grass.

Sonia Again placed third three-quarter-of-a-length behind while Capri completed the frame finishing half-a-length further away.

The punters were taken aback when long shots colt Silk Master and bay horse Tiny Terror upset the fancied horses in the second and third races. With no form worth, third favourite colt Silk Master gets the better of second favourite filly Fly Free by three lengths as public fancy filly Khazana occupied third place ahead of Urban Lady.

The trend continued in the third race when seven-year-old bay horse Tiny Terror overcomes second favourite Lava Man by half-a-length. Favourite filly Blue Eyes was placed third two lengths away while colt Great Man finished fourth among six starters.

Four-year-old dark bay colt Tejori defied weight on his back to avenge his last defeat while prevailing over favourite filly Honey Queen by three lengths in the next race.
